Mission Planning Park represents a fervent effort to restore the environmentally significant shoreline of Tampa Bay through the creation of a natural park setting. Designed as an integral part of the base’s effort to upgrade recreational infrastructure and aesthetics, the project includes the construction of a park pavilion, outdoor seating plaza, the reconstruction of two fishing piers, and the widening & resurfacing of the base exercise trail. The plantings for the park includes thousands of native grasses, shrubs, trees and palms which were once naturally found along Florida’s shoreline.
